Happy May Day.

Because most of my education is from written text, I often mispronounce words like “lithe” and “row” (as in a fight, rhymes with “cow”). Luckily, Bartleby.com has sound files of someone speaking the entries. No excuses anymore for saying “nucular”.

Erik aquired two free passes

Erik aquired two free passes for a sneak preview of X-2—just one of the perquisites of a job at Marvel Comics. The other perks mainly involve free comics in the bathroom. If you are a late 20’s, early 30’s suburban-raised male with streaks of geek tendencies, X-Men Part Deux will resonate with deep parts of your subconscious—the ones formed when all your jeans still had grass stains on the knees. If you fall into some other demographic, I imagine that you will like the movie. I can only guess because I am not you. …
You should see a movie at the Ziegfeld.

Check out the new iPods. Wow.

Happy Birthday to my brother

Happy Birthday to my brother Jerry! (belated, it was yesterday) …
Today’s pic is a spiral staircase view of our friend Spaulding’s going away party. Scattered in the shot is my visiting friend Todd, his cousin Kelly, Jeff, Janine, Colleen, Mike, Walker, Erik, and David Bowie. Behind the camera was Lauren.

Not too much to tell from the weekend. My good buddy Todd was in town and we did a lot of puttering. I like to putter. On Saturday, we did meet three of the freakiest individuals I have ever run across. I can’t even begin to describe them here, but it can be something for us to talk about the next time I see you.

A week ago today my parents showed for a visit and my mother brought a Tupperware bin full of cookies and a bag of lebanon bologna–A Pennsylvania Dutch lunch meat. Word got out and soon requests were flying in from friends who had sampled the stuff after my folk’s last visit, so I packed a few sandwiches and a bag of cookies and met a bunch of friends at Grace. Kate has been working there a few weeks now and we all wanted to go one night to check the place out. In attendance: Erik, Aaron, Kate, Lauren, Mary, Emma, Tyler, and me. Everyone had a bit of the bologna, but the homemade cookies really went well. I had rudely told my mom that I would end up throwing them away because I don’t like cookies. What a dumb ass, I am. Note to the fellas, if you ever want to meet women, walk into the bar with a bowl of your Mom’s homemade cookie. It works on, like, three levels. In fewer words for those in hurry; My friends and I ate packed bologney sandwiches in a fancy Tribeca bar last night. …

How much fun was last

How much fun was last night? I experienced one of those unanticipated superb evenings. While expecting to just have a chill time, I had one of the best nights of the Spring. I met up with the trivia team (pictured on the left) Brad, Erik, and Colin at Pete’s Candy Store. We have a semi-regular gig hosting the Wednesday quiz night and get a real charge out presenting the questions. We also get free beers and fifty bucks. After trivia, the team and our new biographer, Jessye, headed over to see the Coastal Drag playing rock and/or roll. Jessye recorded an interview with the guys and me for a radio documentary about trivia she is creating for a class. A Coastal Drag show is a two-sided pleasure. First, you get excited to see all the kids out at the same bar and then you start shaking to that fine, fine music and it is all right. Last night was no different.

My friend Kelly and I

My friend Kelly and I worked our abs last night at Dolphin Fitness, but unfortunately no cameras are permitted in the gym. We dress pretty frumpy for working out, so it’s probably for the best. This shot is from the weekend and shows Dan and me enjoying a Guinness at Dempsey’s. On Sunday, we made it to the newly restored P.J. Clarke’s for brunch. It’s on 53rd & 3rd and is definitely worth the trip uptown. …
A certain blonde friend of mine had her car tangle with the angry side of a large truck last week. She’s bruised, but fundementally well and we are all very grateful for that. Here’s shout out to Hannah, hoping you get well soon. Hugs to Muz as well.

Easter With The Fam

For the first time ever this Easter weekend, the entire family and significant others were in Manhattan. It was fantastic. We basically just ate and visited for two whole days. I have a separate page of photos in the works that should be up later today. These are family photos; if you are not related to me by blood, I take no responsibility when you find them boring …
Yesteday afternoon while I slept on my couch, this site welcomed its 10,000th visitor—an AOL user from somewhere in the Central Time Zone, doing a Google search for “pit stains”. Congratulations, you anonymous, marketing-susceptible, sweaty, Midwesterner. You are lucky number 10K. I had hoped it would be someone I knew so that I could award a prize or something, but it was not to be.

Last evening, I savored my first Guinness after a twelve day hiatus from imbibing while listening to Mike spin at Lolita. It tasted so good that I had to order another to make sure it wasn’t a fluke.
My luck held and the second lived up to the high set of standards established by the first. I contemplated a third, but I knew there was no way it could be as creamy and delicious as the first two, but life is short so I decided to go for it. Unbelievable! The third Guinness tasted as rich and satisfying as the prior draughts. This was cause for celebration, so I decided to treat myself to a smooth and hearty pint of Guinness. By then I felt attractive and I started talking loudly to pretty girls. Four Guinnesses quenched my thirst so I went home early because it was a school night. A darn good one.

Where do sesame seeds come from?

Sometime today the counter will break 10,000 and STC.com has also already passed its one year anniversery. I think its time we had a party to celebrate. Stay tuned.

I was proud of the friends yesterday for making it to DBA (a bar with a garden) immediately after work for the first Summer weather. Ben delivered an disciplinary lecture to a rebellious Mike and stoner Mary. Tyler animated Virgin Airlines’ socks.

I’d like to give a shout out and “hello” to Mrs. Harbolick.

Hey there, Mr. Blue Sky.

Hey there, Mr. Blue Sky. We’re so pleased to be with you. I just realized why that was the song for the VW convertible. I took a picture of the sky on the way to work, but it’s just blue and not too interesting. Here’s a shot of some tourists. It’s that time of year again. Tourist season. Get your nets ready….
Would someone please do the humane thing and let Bob Hope go free?

I had a dream last night that I was attacked by a shark while floating on a surfboard. In the front yard.
