Remember in 1988 when bell bottoms were so abhorrant that we pegged our jeans to produce the exact opposite. Sideburns were meant to be shaved high up the side of the head. Bellbottoms and sideburns seemed impossible terrible then, and then they became acceptable once again. It will happen to mustaches.
