I stopped by C&L’s last night to say farewell to my friend Diane. She pulls out on Monday with Alan in a rental truck, headed for Austin and grad school. I’m happy for her opportunity, but New York mourns the departure of a rariety—a hot rocket scientist.

I live around the corner from one of the taquerias (taco shops) recently mentioned in the Times. They make unbelievable pork tacos with cilantro and onion and some savory chicken mole (bitter chocolate sauce) tacos. Tired of pizza, I’ve started to eat there a few times a week, attracted by the inexpense. Needless to say, but I’ll say it anyway, the food has wreaked havoc on both my stomach and my dreams. After a night of unsettling taco dreams, Sean awoke to discover he had undergone a metamorphosis. Into a doofus.
