I don't have much of a sweet tooth, but while I was growing up I always went bonkers for Pinch-Me Cake. You rise two loafs of white bread dough, pinch off chunks, dip them in melted butter and then cinnamon and sugar, and bake in a bundt pan. While cooking, the house will fill with the aromas of sweet molten sugar and cinnamon love. This creates a craving that will cause me to burn my fingers pinching off bites seconds after the dish leaves the oven.
I haven't been able to find frozen dough in NYC and I'm too lazy to make a yeast dough from scratch, so it's been years since I've had pinch-me cake. This weekend I discovered "Monkey Bread" at the grocery store. I didn't recognize the name, but I knew buttery dough heaven when I saw it. It turns out to just be a different name for the same thing(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monkey_bread). After just a few minutes in the nuker, it was just as good as homemade. I had it for three breakfasts in a row.
Note to fellow Penn Staters, a grilled sticky tickles the same taste buds as pinch-me cake, but lacks the tactile design. To anyone, I recommend making pinch-me cake on some chilly evening. I can available at a moments notice to eat my more than fair share and I'll definitely bring milk.
