I got to attend "A Night With Joe Paterno" at the Plaza, thanks to my friend Ron. Ron and I walked in with Joe and Sue, just accidently. Brad (on the right, fellow class of '96-er) talked Joe into a photo after we brought him his regular, Old Granddad, heavy on the rocks.

Joe mingled like a senator and then spoke for about 40 minutes. If you are worried about his savvy or competency, punch yourself in the nose for being an Agist. Joe was electric. He told elegant stories that smoothly dove-tailed with lessons for today's football climate. He rattled off an in depth analysis of next year's team by position. His memory for names is uncanny.

Joe was also moving around pretty well. I'm so happy and honored to have him on the sidelines next year. He'll forever be the grandad to PSU nation.

There were some celebs in the crowd. The night was hosted by the fetching Penn Stater Lara Spencer, host of the Insider. New York Giant (and Tom Brady sacker) Jay Alford also showed up to give some love to his former coach.

It was a heck of a night. Being a Penn State event, the night finished with an attractive woman giving a drunken, rambling, slurred toast. Then she kicked off her shoes and walked barefoot to the bar for another white wine.
